Senior Regulatory Associate

This is an 18 to 24-month FTC role

 

You will ensure that product composition, packaging, labelling and advertising for the UK and Ireland portfolio comply with applicable regulations and company requirements.  You will provide proactive regulatory advice as part of project teams, ensuring on-time delivery of product development, launch and all associated advertising.  You will participate in trade associations to monitor and influence the external environment and represent SBFE commercial interests.  You will work with the wider European team to monitor the external legislative environment, ensuring knowledge is targeted to internal stakeholders enabling timely risk capture, communication and mitigation

YOUR ROLE

  • Ensuring knowledge of regulations impacting UK/I portfolio remain current. 
  • Providing regulatory advice to marketing, technical teams and senior stakeholders on all aspects of UK/EU food and packaging regulation to ensure compliant product development through the stage-gate process.
  • Review of advertising and communication copy for UK and Ireland to ensure conformity with food and consumer protection legislation, self-regulatory codes of practice and company requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships within the business, key functions and with influential external bodies (trade associations & regulatory authorities).
  • Support Incident Management team as necessary. Deputising for regulatory manager as regulatory lead on incident management teams.
  • Generating label copy and approving product artwork to ensure that labelling complies with all relevant food legislation and company requirements.
  • Partnering with marketing teams to develop claims that are true, proven, non-misleading, compliant and aligned with commercial goals. 
  • Review and approve all raw materials and formulations to ensure compliance within the UK and Ireland requirements.
  • Create and review procedures/guidelines for regulatory processes and ways of working.
  • Monitor external environment as part of regulatory watch. Attend industry seminars or events to capture current discussions and future developments.
  • Deliver compliance training to external teams as necessary.

WHAT I NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Bachelor’s degree in a regulatory, legal or sciences discipline.
  • Solid experience, preferably in FMCG or other relevant regulatory experience.
  • Knowledge of food and consumer protection regulations and self-regulatory advertising codes with a demonstrated grasp of FMCG business operation and brand strategic thinking.
  • Technical food / beverage product knowledge.
  • Knowledge of packaging/sustainability regulatory framework is desirable
