Plant Engineer - Environment & Sustainability

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Environmental Lead, you will be based at our plant and play a key role in ensuring full environmental compliance and supporting Suntory’s sustainability ambitions. You will be responsible for managing environmental requirements in line with the Integrated Environmental Authorization (AAI), applicable legislation, and corporate standards, while leading the Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001.

You will work closely with the EHS Manager and cross‑functional teams to ensure compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement, actively contributing to projects focused on reducing environmental impact and improving efficiency in energy and water consumption.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

• Environmental Compliance & Management Systems: Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and corporate requirements, including wastewater discharges, waste management, atmospheric emissions, noise, chemical storage (APQ) and spill management. Lead and maintain the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, coordinating internal and external audits, inspections and follow‑up of corrective actions.
• Monitoring, Reporting & KPIs: Monitor and analyze environmental and utilities data (water, energy, waste and emissions), validate utility invoices, and prepare monthly and annual environmental reports and KPIs. Ensure accurate reporting in corporate platforms (QEHS / SPHERA) and official declarations (PRTR, environmental and non‑financial reports).
• Continuous Improvement & Sustainability Projects: Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing resource consumption, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, water savings, waste minimization and Zero Landfill objectives. Collaborate with Production, Quality and Central Sustainability teams to optimize processes and implement best environmental practices.
• Operational Coordination & Incident Management: Coordinate external stakeholders such as authorities, OCAs, waste managers and service providers. Manage environmental incidents and emergencies, ensuring proper response, investigation and preventive actions.
• Training & Environmental Culture: Develop and deliver environmental training and awareness programs for employees and contractors, promoting a strong environmental culture and compliance mindset across the organization.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Qualifications

• Degree or technical background in Engineering, Chemical/Industrial or related fields.
• Environmental management certification (ISO 14001 / IEMA or equivalent).
• English B2

Experience

• Proven experience in environmental compliance, ISO 14001, audits and permits management.
• Experience leading or participating in continuous improvement projects focused on energy and water efficiency.
