What is the opportunity? | He aha te kōwhiringa?
We’re looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join us at an incredibly exciting moment in Suntory Oceania’s journey. As we evolve our structure and build enhanced commercial and contract capability across the business, this role is central to shaping how we partner, operate, and grow.
You’ll work across a high‑energy, fast‑moving portfolio, supporting multiple teams who rely on great judgment, pragmatic advice, and strong governance. With competing deadlines and a wide variety of stakeholders, no two days will look the same—so if you enjoy meaningful impact, challenge, and navigating complexity with confidence, this is your moment.
This is not a “business as usual” legal role. You’ll help shape our future ways of working, build capability, and contribute to a best‑in‑class legal function across Aotearoa and Australia.
In this role, you will:
- Provide commercially savvy legal support across a wide range of matters—particularly contract management, governance, and commercial operations.
- Help teams balance urgency with process, ensuring the right decisions are made at the right time.
- Stand confidently on your own feet, lead with curiosity and can coach stakeholders to understand risk, priority and boundaries
- Work closely with stakeholders across the region, helping them navigate complexity without feeling overwhelmed.
- Contribute to building a supportive, sustainable legal function—one that values clarity, boundaries, collaboration and wellbeing.

- Know how to test urgency, prioritise effectively, and set boundaries—while still being a great business partner.
- Are resilient, calm under pressure, and able to push back constructively.
- Bring a collaborative style and enjoy helping people understand the “why,” not just the “what.”
And if you're not an expert in every single area—don’t worry. We hire for mindset, values, and potential.
