We are seeking a meticulous and dynamic Executive, Ingredients & Chemistry to join our Research & Development (R&D) team at Suntory Beverage & Food APAC. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in supporting laboratory maintenance, inventory update & lab safety duties to maintain research productivity. You will also be providing laboratory support to R&D and other markets to fulfil chemical analysis requests, and participate in product ideation activites to support New Product Development (NPD).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Research Laboratory Management

  • Ensure laboratory is safe for working through routine inspection, submission of required licenses and permits
  • Schedule regular maintenance of instruments to prevent failure or instrument downtime
  • Assist with SOP updates for analytical instruments.
  • Update inventory records on a timely basis to ensure good housekeeping for safety compliance.

Chemical Analysis Support for R&D and Other Markets

  • Support routine chemical analysis for characterization of ingredient and product to support business needs such as market interest, risk management, product development and ingredient/product knowledge
  • Perform routine fractionation of existing and new ingredients using optimized separation methods to support bioassay work by in-house facility and external collaborator engagement.
  • Support procurement of research consumables and sample preparation for external laboratory analysis
  • Support sample and reagent preparation for fulfilling internal and external laboratory demands
  • Assist in SOP drafting for implemented chemical analysis methods

In-House NPD Exploration

  • Support NPD ideation and innovation through participation in internal idea creation and other related activities
  • Assist ad hoc activities like NPD prototyping, ingredient evaluation, chemical stability testing to facilitate NPD

SKILL & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, or relevant fields, with 1-2 years of work experience.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Basic practical experience with analytical chemistry techniques like LCMS and HPLC
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in a laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge in sample preparation and quantitative chemical analysis
  • Good analytical and documentation skills
  • Proficient in laboratory management
  • Experience in analysing food or nutritional products is highly advantageous
