About your role

As the Legal Manager at Suntory Beverage & Food Health Enrichment (SBFHE), you will oversee legal matters across Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Your role is critical in ensuring the company’s operations comply with all applicable laws and regulations, while also providing strategic legal guidance to internal stakeholders. You will be a key advisor on a wide range of legal topics, from contracts and corporate governance to intellectual property and compliance.

  • Legal Director- Thailand & Indochina Exports
  • Legal Manager, North Cluster
  • Senior Risk & Compliance Manager, SBFHE
  • Legal Manager, South Cluster (this role)

What You'll Do

1. Legal Oversight & Compliance

  • Lead and manage all legal matters across Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
  • Ensure full compliance with local and international laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Monitor legal developments and proactively assess implications for the business.

2. Legal Advisory & Stakeholder Support

  • Provide timely, practical, and commercially focused legal advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Guide and train business units on legal issues, policies, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain strong communication with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives.

3. Contract & Document Management

  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and legal documents, including those in Chinese.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with relevant laws and internal controls.
  • Refine and manage legal templates and documentation standards across the Group.

4. Risk Management & Strategic Legal Support

  • Identify and assess legal risks in business operations and strategic projects.
  • Advise on legal aspects of corporate governance, M&A, insurance, anti-bribery, conflict of interest, data protection, employment law, IP, innovation, and competition law.
  • Support business model changes and expansion plans with legal insights.

5. Litigation & Dispute Resolution

  • Handle litigation, summons, claims, and other contentious matters.
  • Coordinate with external counsel when necessary and manage dispute resolution processes.

6. Cross-Border Legal Coordination

  • Provide cross-border legal support within the Suntory Group.
  • Collaborate with regional and global legal teams to ensure alignment and consistency.

7. Ad-Hoc Projects & Legal Initiatives

  • Participate in special projects, legal initiatives, and compliance programs as required.
  • Contribute to the development of legal frameworks that support innovation and business growth.

What You need to be successful

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent qualification.
  • 4–5 years of legal experience, ideally in both law firm and in-house settings.
  • Experience in the FMCG industry is preferred.
  • Strong command of English; proficiency in Chinese (spoken and written) is an advantage due to Hong Kong business market needs.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Detail-oriented, responsible, and commercially minded.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
