Assistant Manager, Research and Development

The purpose of this position is to manage the development of prototypes for new products, renewal product development, and change projects. This includes ensuring that the project concept, consumer needs, quality assurance, regulations, timelines, and target costs are met. 
Collaboration with relevant functions such as SCM, QA, Production, Other Region R&D, OEM, and suppliers is essential to gather information and support related activities like trial runs, ISQ, and risk assessments to keep the project on track.  Understanding consumer needs through Gemba and gaining insights to foster idea creation is also a key responsibility. 
Additionally, this position involves processing, managing, and reporting stability studies to support NPD, renewal products, and change projects.
 

Job Responsibilities

Formula Development for NPD/Reformulation

  • Develop prototypes with a clear understanding of and alignment with target consumer/occasion, consumer needs, target benefits, target costs, and timelines, including key milestones with the NPD team.
  • Evaluate and confirm that there are no technical issues, including product stability, safety, microbiological aspects, and intellectual property.
  • Prepare documents for commercialization, such as ISQ, SPF/SPI, stability reports including analysis results, and documents to support FDA registration.

 

General duties

Perform laboratory tasks in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Follow company policies and all implemented standard systems.

Skills and Experience

To excel in this role, you should possess a robust foundation in food science, food microbiology, and chemistry. Your expertise in food regulations and risk assessment will be pivotal in ensuring compliance and safety. Additionally, you should demonstrate effective communication skills and problem-solving abilities.

 

A Master's or Bachelor's degree in food science and technology or a related field is required5. You should have a minimum of three years of experience in R&D, encompassing prototyping to commercialization.
