Commercial Finance Business Partner - Portugal

Requisition ID:  9596

ABOUT YOU

You are a curious, proactive finance professional with solid years of experience in financial analysis or business partnering roles. You’re eager to go beyond the numbers and become a true business partner—someone who helps drive decisions, not just report on them. You enjoy working collaboratively across teams, thrive in dynamic environments and are ready for your next challenge in a multinational FMCG company where you can grow and make an impact.

YOUR ROLE

As Senior Finance Analyst / Commercial Finance Business Partner for Portugal, you will play a key role in driving business performance through financial insight, challenge and partnership. Working closely with the Commercial Director for Portugal and reporting into the Commercial Finance Manager, you will act as a strategic partner to the Sales Team and collaborate across functions to ensure accurate forecasting, performance tracking and optimal investment in trade and promotions.

This is a hands-on, high-visibility role with exposure to both local and Iberia-wide initiatives, ideal for someone who wants to deepen their expertise and grow into future leadership positions within finance.

WHAT'S THERE FOR YOU

Forecasting & Performance Management

  • Play a key role in supporting the commercial forecasting process for Portugal, working closely with Sales and Demand Planning to ensure robust, data-informed projections.
  • Contribute to financial valuation and scenario analysis to support commercial planning and business reviews.
  • Support the preparation of regular performance reviews by providing insights based on volume, mix, pricing, and margin analysis.

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

  • Actively contribute to the month-end close process for the Portugal market, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in line with internal controls.
  • Prepare monthly P&Ls, closing decks, and variance analysis for local and Iberia stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Iberia Finance team on budgeting, planning, and consolidated reporting processes.

Business Partnering & Commercial Support

  • Provide day-to-day financial support to the Commercial Director, Channel Managers and Sales teams in Portugal.
  • Deliver clear and structured financial analysis to support decision-making, commercial planning, and target delivery.
  • Assist in evaluating promotional activities, customer investments, and Joint Business Plans, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.

Revenue & Trade Spend Management

  • Monitor trade spend and promotional investments, supporting efforts to optimize ROI.
  • Help ensure adherence to pricing and discounting policies across customer channels.
  • Maintain accurate tracking and reconciliation of commercial agreements impacting financial performance.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Act as an active member of both the Portugal Commercial team and the wider Iberia Finance community.
  • Share insights and best practices across teams to improve processes and reporting tools.
  • Support finance transformation initiatives, contributing ideas to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.

WHAT DO I NEED TO SUCCED ON THE ROLE

  • Educational Background: University degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related field is required.
  • Finance Experience: Background in finance roles (e.g. controlling, FP&A, business partnering), ideally in FMCG or dynamic commercial environments.
  • Financial Fundamentals: Strong grasp of accounting basics, P&L understanding, and standard financial processes.
  • Analytical & Curious: Attention to detail with a data-driven mindset. You enjoy digging into numbers to find insights that drive action.
  • Tools & Modelling: Comfortable working with Excel and building financial models. Exposure to SAP (FI/CO-PA), Power BI or similar tools is a plus with interest in developing further.
  • Business Partnering: Ability to work closely with commercial teams, building trust and providing financial perspective in a collaborative way.
  • Communication: Clear and structured when presenting financial topics to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Languages: Bilingual in Portuguese and Spanish, with fluency in English (minimum B2) required to interact in an international environment.
  • Growth Mindset: Proactive, eager to learn, resilient and open to feedback. You bring initiative and a positive attitude to team challenges.
