ABOUT YOU

You are a proactive and flexible individual with a strong background in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). You possess excellent influencing skills and the ability to communicate and present at all levels of the organization. You are computer literate, with a sound working knowledge of software packages such as Microsoft Office. You can manage information of a confidential nature and display a high level of integrity. You thrive in a pressurized environment and are willing to work out of hours in light of accidents and incidents.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an EHS Specialist, you will be based at our Coleford site, with occasional travel to our Stockley Park and Dublin offices as necessary. You will be responsible for developing and delivering EHS training programmes, consulting with staff on EHS initiatives through safety representatives and safety committees, and assisting all levels of management in fulfilling their EHS responsibilities. You will support the EHS Manager in ensuring compliance with EHS legislation, corporate guidelines, and accreditations, as well as oversee and support accident and incident investigations.

Additionally, you will carry out proactive and reactive EHS inspections, audits, and Gembas, and play a leading role in the GB&I sustainability steering committee. Your technical expertise will be crucial in supporting all Business Units with EA permits, discharge permits, Environmental Management Systems, Sustainability, and environmental reporting

WHAT I NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Qualifications: NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, with a view to working towards or already holding a NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety. An IEMA foundation certificate in Environmental Management or a view to working towards or already holding a certificate in Environmental Management
  • Desirable: A relevant sustainability qualification or the ability to demonstrate strong working knowledge around the subject of sustainability (scope 1, 2 & 3)
  • Skills: Strong influencing skills and the ability to communicate and present at all levels of the organization
  • Attributes: Flexible and proactive approach, with the potential for out-of-hours work in light of accidents and incidents. Ability to work within a pressurized environment
